Summary of 3 Food Myths

By Dave Gutknecht
Endcap Articles

Myths get in the way of our ability to restore degraded soils that can feed the world using fewer chemicals.

A very good summary of 3 Big Myths About Modern Agriculture is reprinted in the April 5, 2017 issue of Scientific American. These myths are:

  • Large-scale agriculture feeds the world today
  • Large farms are more efficient
  • Conventional farming is necessary to feed the world

The article is recommended to food co-ops and others for use in food education efforts and collaborative work. Written by David Montgomery, a professor of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington, it originally appeared in The Conversation.
