Should Plant-Based Milk Be Called Milk?
The FDA Wants Your Opinion
In a request for information published on Sept. 28, 2018, the Food and Drug Administration has stated an interest in learning how consumers use plant-based products and how they understand terms such as ‘milk’ or ‘yogurt’ when included in product names. They ask: should plant-based products be allowed to include words such as “milk,” “yogurt,” and “cheese” on their labels?
The FDA will be accepting comments on its request for information online and by mail until Nov. 27, 2018.
